LOMA RICA TRAIL
A one mile long segment of trail, extending from the corner of Brunswick and Idaho-Maryland Road to Loma Rica Drive (connecting the Glenbrook Shopping Center with Memorial Park, in Grass Valley) was completed in the fall of 2007 when two bridges were constructed.
At the Idaho-Maryland end, the trail passes over a small stream and crosses grassland before entering a mixed conifer forest. Climbing through this timbered area, recent fuel reduction work (clearing to reduce the fire hazard) on Loma Rica Ranch is visible.
The trail climbs to the D-S Canal, where a new bridge has been constructed. The trail then parallels the canal to Loma Rica Drive, where it currently terminates.

FUTURE PLANS
Plans are to extend the trail across Loma Rica Drive, dropping down to the canal and extending to the intersection of Greenhorn and Brunswick roads, then continuing west to Empire Mine State Park. Negotiations with property owners to secure trail easements for this segment of trail are ongoing.
