The
Rattlesnake Ridge trails are located within the Open Space
area of the Rattlesnake Ridge Subdivision. These trails were
entirely constructed by volunteers. The western section of
trail parallels Rattlesnake Creek, passing under huge, towering
ponderosa pines, cedars and oaks, on an abandoned ditch grade.
The trail then climbs to an oak covered ridge, where it joins
the subdivision roads. A gravel shoulder provides connections
to the trails through the open space. To the east, the trails
follow old road grades through a mixed conifer and black oak
forest, paralleling Rattlesnake Road.
Volunteers Complete Rattlesnake Ridge
Trails
In August 2007, volunteers celebrated the completion of trails
in the new Rattlesnake Ridge subdivision. Work on the trails
began in December, 2006. Sixty-four volunteers worked on seven
weekends to complete over a mile of new trails near Rattlesnake
Creek, through the open-space parcels of the subdivision.
Participants in the trail construction project included members
of the High School Mountain Bike Team, Boy Scouts, neighbors,
and trail enthusiasts from throughout the area.
