In December 2006 the Land Trust secured a 356 easement
of forest land located east of North San Juan near Graniteville.
The property will be sustainably managed for timber production
according to a state-approved timber management plan.
The 311 acres is at an elevation of 4,400 feet. It is covered
with mixed coniferous forest land, including pines, firs
and some hardwoods, such as oak.
The Land Trust will hold special tours of the property
so that people can learn about the concept of a working
forest.
